GRADING POLICY AND HOMEWORK GUIDELINES:
Math Grades are:
- Based on a “Total Points Grading System”
Points:
- Homework assignments-20% of grade
- Tests, quizzes, and projects vary
Homework:
- Students are expected to show ALL WORK on homework, assessments, and performance tasks. “NO WORK, NO CREDIT”
- Students will have homework most nights
- Homework must be done in pencil
- Generally, HW should not exceed 25 minutes/night as per the HBMS Homework Guidelines
- Daily and running Homework for the month is posted on Mrs. Betz’s teacher webpage in the “HOMEWORK” folder. (left side of my page)
Missing or Incomplete Homework Assignments:
- Will be circled and initialed by a teacher in the student’s assignment book
- Will be recorded as a zero in the Genesis grading system
May be turned in the following day for half credit, but the student must show the completed homework to the teacher

2022-2023 Grading System
8th grade Algebra
Due to Algebra being an accelerated high school course, the expectations are higher.
Students have received:
5 points for the completion of assignments
2.5 points for completing half the assignment
0 points for not completing the assignment at all.
8th grade Math
Students have received:
5 points for the completion of assignments
2.5 points for completing half the assignment
0 points for not completing the assignment at all.
HOMEWORK: Homework is updated on my webpage. Also, each student will have Homework Buddies. Please encourage them to call their Homework Buddy when needing help.
Also, students may email their typed school work to betzm@hbschools.org. .
